Southern United States Trade Association

Since 2003, the SC World Trade Center was awarded a grant to recruit and train small to medium sized minority and women owned companies to participate in an Export Readiness Training Program. This training effort would not and could not have been possible without the funding and aid of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service Emerging Markets Program. The grant was contracted to the SC World Trade Center by the Southern United States Trade Association, a non-profit trade association representing the departments of agriculture of the 15 southern United States and Puerto Rico.

The goal of this project is to increase the export of small-scale processed and branded food firms, including specialty/gourmet, organic/natural and ingredient producers. SUSTA and the SC World Trade Center both strive to facilitate access to the international marketplace and give small companies in South Carolina a greater global advantage.The SC World Trade Center has been able to successfully assist companies in South Carolina. In 2008, the SC World Trade Center will partner with the Georgia Department of Agriculture to provide Georgia companies with the knowledge and understanding to begin exporting.

Experts in the field will review the export process and assist with personal          export inquires.
